I post every day, using Royal Mail First Class for cards, and Track 24 for all other items, and I can post directly to the recipient - see my Upgrades listings. Dispatch times are currently 1-3 days for most of my makes, with a few taking longer as indicated in the item details.

In the busy run up to Christmas, I'm no longer taking commissions for my embroidered play scenes and my patchwork quilts, but I have gift voucher options. The last day for ordering my custom hand embroidered Christmas stockings and Child's Drawing Pictures is Monday 9th December. For all other items I will be open right up until Christmas week.

I’m Sharon, also known as The Old Button. I live in South Wales with my fantastic husband and a black and white cat called Felix. Not very original I know, but that was his name before we adopted him, and he certainly looks like his namesake Now retired from the NHS and with my grown up kids having flown the nest, my “me” time is sewing and designing – I used to make stage costumes – and gardening.

The name, The Old Button ( Y Hen Botwm in Welsh), is inspired by a box of old buttons my grandmother gave me when I started making my own clothes as a child. I have sewn as long as I can remember - tackling anything from wedding dresses, to making over 300 cistumes in one season.

Through The Old Button I design and make an eclectic mix of hand crafted items for children and the home, using both new and recycled fabrics embellished with hand embroidery, applique and buttons.Although I really like working with vintage materials, I especially love combining traditional techniques such as patchwork, applique and hand embroidery with modern contemporary prints and vibrant wool felt.

I want to encourage people to start sewing and have recently started a range of sew it yourself kits. I am hoping to expand these, and offer patterns and kits for my children's play scenes, as well as other applique projects including my wall art pictures and my Christmas Stockings.
