I also sell craft kits and fabric supplies - and am moving them across to my new shop The Old Button Supplies - search for me on Folksy.
These vintage transfer papers from the 30s are so clever and versatile - allowing everyone to add beauty and charm to everyday textiles in their own unique way. I am using them to learn new stitches and techniques - both modern and traditional - and I hope to turn some into sewing kits so you can have a go yourself.

Continuing my interpretation of vintage 1930s embroidery transfers using a variety of stitches and styles, Hollyhocks has a trio of towering flower spikes set in a carpet of grass. Available either framed or unframed, this little piece of hand embroidered wall art would look good on any wall - I'd suggest hanging it somewhere where you can see the delicate flowers close up.
It also makes a beautiful present for a best friend or Mum at any time of the year - not just Galentine's or Mother's Day. I can direct post with a message from you - see my upgrade listings.
I mostly used long and short stitch for both the flowers and the leaves - the latter also edged in tiny blanket stitches to echo the crinkled edges typical of hollyhocks. The petals are pinks and lilacs, with centres of soft white and violet, and French knots are used for the little yellow stamens.
Stitched onto Irish linen, the finished picture is wrapped around a board and finished with a felt back, and can be displayed unframed propped on a shelf or a little easel. If you want to frame it yourself - make sure the rebate is deep enough for the thickness of the picture (1 cm).
If you choose the framed option, it comes in a off-white distressed frame with a wire for hanging on a wall. It is without glass so the embroidery is not flattened.
Size: the embroidered picture is 4 by 6 inches, the frame is 6 by 8 inches.
Care - dust with a dry cloth or brush
