Hello, I'm Helen, and I make delicate pieces of jewellery, designed for everyday wear, using recycled sterling silver. Each piece is made by hand using traditional silversmithing techniques, then finished with love before being passed on to its new owner.
I love working with silver to capture the magic of the turning year; creating pieces that celebrate special seasonal markers - midsummer, the winter solstice, the equinoxes, quarter days and cross quarter days . . .
I find inspiration while walking in the fields and woods around my home on the outskirts of Oxford, noticing the changing seasons as I go - then combining this with ideas drawn from old traditions and folklore, as well as the jewellery and amulets of ancient cultures (I spent many years working in a museum!)
I am registered with the London Assay Office, so any items over 7.78g (the legal requirement for silver items) will be fully hallmarked. This means the piece of jewellery has been independently tested and conforms to all legal standards of purity (fineness). Please note, most of the pieces I make are below this weight, and therefore do not carry a hallmark. Please visit https://www.assayofficelondon.co.uk/media/2943/dealers_notice_b-221021.pdf for more information.
I love to make beautiful things, but I do not want this to have a negative impact on the environment. I take care at every stage of creating and selling my pieces to be as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible. Here are just some of the ways how:
MATERIALS: I buy all my materials from trusted sources with ethical and corporate responsibility policies in place. I work in recycled sterling silver which is guaranteed by my supplier to be 100% recycled, traceable and audited.
PROCESSES: I don't use toxic chemicals in my workshop: that's why you won't find any oxidised (blackened) finishes in my range of jewellery, and my pickle (the acidic solution jewellers use to clean oxidisation from the silver after it has been heated) is made from non-toxic, food grade ingredients.
PACKAGING: I use eco-friendly packaging - rest assured, you won't find any plastic or bubble wrap in your order! Your jewellery will be supplied in either a branded eco-friendly box, or in a little reusable drawstring pouch, as detailed in each individual listing. Orders are then sent out by first class post, in recycled boxes with recycled tissue and shredded paper.
THANK YOU for your interest in my jewellery - I hope you will find something to treasure!

I fell in love with this the moment I saw it, I was gutted it was sold out at the time but learnt that I could request to have one made. Whoop whoop.
It turns out that made the experience all the more special for me, Helen was amazing with keeping me informed all the way, from when she planned to start the work through to ready for polishing and then when it was being posted.
As it was a gift for a special friend they were as thrilled with recieving such a wonderful piece of art as I was.
Thank you Helen
Thank you Folksy
Xx
