Inspired by the joyous, vibrant May celebrations of Jack in the Green in Hastings and Deptford, Jack, the huge dancing foliate effigy leads the colourful street parades and is later sacrificially torn apart to release the Summer! A sad ending for one so green, but a promise that he will return again next year!

Full description
Handmade, one of a kind earthenware ceramic Jack in the Green figurine. Jack is glazed with a matt finish to his face but with a beautiful glossy green coat of leaves and a regal, floral crown! Come and join him in the parade to celebrate the coming of Summer!
I AM AN EARTHENWARE CREATION - that means that although I am beautiful and strong, I should ideally spend my life indoors. I can be put outside during warmer, dry weather but please take me back inside when it gets wet and cold so that the frost and damp don't cause me to crack.
Jack measures approx. 17.5cm from the top of his crown to the bottom.
