Inspired by the joyous, vibrant May celebrations of Jack in the Green in Hastings and Deptford, Jack, the huge dancing foliate effigy leads the colourful street parades and is later sacrificially torn apart to release the Summer! A sad ending for one so green, but a promise that he will return again next year!

Handmade ceramic wall plaque of Jack in the Green, May Day's very own foliate king!
Jack is lovingly glazed with a matt finish face and a body of beautiful glossy green leaves and a majestic crown! A wire hanger is on the back for wall hanging.
I AM AN EARTHENWARE CREATION - that means that although I am beautiful and strong, I should ideally spend my life indoors. I can be put outside during warmer, dry weather but please take me back inside when it gets wet and cold so that the frost and damp don't cause me to crack.
Each Jack is hand made by me and no two are ever exactly the same. Size approx. 16cm.
