I love making bags! This backpack was inspired by the pattern "Buddy Backpack" by the designer, MrsH. I attended one of MrsH's courses a couple of years ago and learnt so much about bag construction. There is so much to consider - not just the exterior fabric, but the lining, the fittings (strap rings, zips and so on) and the all - important interfacing. Interfacing gives a bag structure and form and a professional finish.

Purple and pink Backpack with multiple pockets - one of a kind!
It measures 11" (28cm) wide x 13.5" (34cm) high x 5" (12.5cm) deep.
I've chosen a lovely mid purple linen effect printed cotton for the exterior and have teamed this with a contrasting purple vine patterned cotton for the top flap.
The shoulderback straps are adjustable for your comfort and there is also a top handle for carrying by hand. There is a hidden pocket underneath the flap. Four bag feet protect the base.
The interior lining is a bright, bubble patterned dark pink cotton print and there are multiple internal pockets, including a padded pocket, a zipped pocket, a slip pocket and also a bottle sleeve which enables you to keep a water bottle upright inside the backpack. There is also an attached ribbon with a claw clip that you can use to keep your keys handy and easy to find.
All of the bag fittings - magnetic snaps, strap rings, strap slider adjusters, bag feet, zips, zip pulls, metal zip end and claw clip are rainbow iridescent effect metal.
This backpack would make a perfect gift for commuting or travelling, or why not treat yourself?
