I love making bags! This bag was inspired by the pattern "Life Is Good" by the designer, Monkey Buttons. I attended a bag making course a couple of years ago and learnt so much about bag construction. There is so much to consider - not just the exterior fabric, but the lining, the fittings (strap rings, zips and so on) and the all - important interfacing. Interfacing gives a bag structure and form and a professional finish.

Batik fabric quilted zigzag patchwork tote bag, perfect for carrying shopping or to use on a day out.
The main body of the bag is constructed from several different co-ordinating cotton fabrics which I have sewn together in a zigzag pattern. I then quilted the zigzags and the soft handles and sides of the bag with a matching thread. The interior of the bag is a lovely white and blue floral cotton print and this too is quilted with the zigzag pattern.
The bag measures 15" (38cm) wide, expanding to 20" (51cm) wide. It is 12.5" (32cm) high, plus the handles and a minimum of 4" (10cm) deep, expanding to 6" (15cm) deep.
In some of the photos I have placed two rolled up bath towels in the bag to give an indication of how it looks when filled.
This bag would make a lovely gift for someone special, or even for yourself!
