I love making table runners! For me, they are the perfect combination of patchwork piecing and quilting. Once I’ve settled on a design, I really enjoy selecting fabrics that will contrast and compliment each other. I then cut them up and sew them back together in a different order! My artistry doesn’t end there though, because I then consider how to quilt the piece. Sometimes I decide on a relatively simple grid or straight lines design, whereas other times I might quilt an all-over free motion design of swirls, leaves or perhaps something else!

Beautiful Morris fabric quilted patchwork Table Runner, entirely handmade.
I have hand appliqued bird, flower and leaf shapes onto a cream cotton background.
Measures 48" (122cm) long x 18" (46cm) wide and it is gently hand washable.
The central panel is framed with highly colourful strips of Morris fabrics from the same range (a total of eight different designs) and I have also added contrasting frames and a smart bound edge in a complementing deep rust colour.
The reverse of the runner is a soft beige printed cotton from Tilda's Eucalyptus range.
