I love making bags! This bag is to my own pattern and design.
I attended a bag making course a couple of years ago and learnt so much about bag construction. There is a lot to consider - not just the exterior fabric, but the lining, the fittings (magnetic snaps, etc ) and the all - important interfacing. Interfacing gives a bag structure and form and a professional finish.

Blue and White mandala tote bag with quilted panels. Entirely handmade, with a useful zipped pocket. It would be a lovely gift idea or a nice treat for yourself.
It measures 17" (43cm) wide by 13" (33cm) high by 4" (10cm) deep. The handles when in use add an extra 11" (28cm) to the height of the bag.
I've constructed this bag using a beautiful mandala print panel from Makower's Jaipur fabric range for the front side. I've framed this with bright blue side panels that I have quilted with a diamond grid. For the reverse of this bag I've used a diamond patterned oriental design fabric. All of the bag panels are softly padded, giving the bag a wonderful padded texture.
The bag base, handles and inside top of the bag are all made with teal blue coloured linen and I've also quilted the base pieces and edge topstitched the handles. The bag has box corners which enable it to stand up on its' own.
The bag is fully lined inside with a blue and cream patterned fabric and an internal pocket which is accessed by opening a blue zip.
The bag closes with a gold coloured magnetic snap and I've also added my gold coloured brand label to co-ordinate, giving this unique bag that final special touch.
