Hi there and welcome to my shop. Here you will find old embroideries, vintage fabrics and sparkling remnants made into something pretty and practical once again. I re-stock slowly but surely, so do keep coming back for a browse.
As I try to recycle where I can, your order will arrive wrapped in clean, recycled packaging from my hoard.
Thank you for visiting me at Folksy.
This amazing print, still so fashionable today, was first designed as wallpaper in 1895 for Morris and Co. Sanderson have been reproducing it as “Compton” fabric for many years, and this one dates from 1992. It was given to me by a lovely friend, and ex textiles teacher. I have been hanging on for the autumn and winter to showcase it. The seasons where it belongs!

Made from a fabulous vintage Sanderson fabric, this is the classic autumnal print. Its hard to believe it was designed in 1895 for Morris, as it looks so cool today, with its strong colours and bold print. I have used it to make a simple but sturdy unlined tote or shopping bag which could also be useful as a book bag. It has a small inside pocket for your phone and keys, and will fold up into its own little pouch, ready for all those unexpected buys when you want to avoid plastic bags. A great present for fans of Morris and Co, for vintage Sanderson print lovers, or as a Christmas present for Mum.
The bag measures 32 cm across the front and is 36 cm long. It is sewn with strong French seams.
There is a pair of handles each 68 cm long, and the bottom is boxed to make it a little more roomy.
The bag folds up to fit inside its own matching pouch measuring 15 cm across and 20 cm long.
The inside pocket is 14 cm by 12 cm edged with a green binding, and is finished off with my own embroidered name tag.
Please note that the pattern placement will vary from bag to bag.
Please wash on a short, cool cycle, and hang up to dry on a line or clothes rack.
100% cotton.
I like to recycle. Your bag will arrive wrapped in clean, reused packaging from my hoard, and sent as Royal Mail 2nd class.
