Wooden pendants from rescued wood

In October 2021 we were visiting Exeter and saw a shop selling wooden heart pendants. My wife liked them and I was planning to go back and buy one when I thought - “I could make that. I’ve got a bit of scrap oak at home.”
A few months later a wooden heart pendant was finished and a Christmas present delivered. This pendant is the basis of my logo.

I’m not sure what prompted me to make more but I had scraps of wood from floor board samples, an old church pew and old flooring all begging to be used. I made a few more pendants and I was hooked.

My goal is to try and use wood that is going to waste. It’s amazing what you can find and be given. I’ve used beautiful offcuts from a wood store, old flooring and chopping boards, odds and ends left by the bin as well as Christmas trees and prunings. I was lucky enough to be given a load of oak from a church pew that was surplus to requirements which I’ve made many things from.

With each new pendant, piece of equipment, feedback or advice, I learn something new so what I make keeps evolving. That’s why it’s called Progress Crafts.

This is a hobby along side my day job so the output is limited but I hope you find something you like.
