Handcrafted Genuine Gemstone Jewellery from the South West

Hello, I’m Melanie. I don't know about you, but I've always been thrilled every time I come across one of those sparkly striated mineral stones just laying on the beach like a piece of offered up treasure. As a kid foraging for such rocks on the Cornish beaches of the West Country became a way of life, and into adulthood I still get that exhilaration when I handle Gemstones; the colours, the inclusions, the shapes; they are little pieces of earth magic. I want to keep those natural treasures with me by wearing them and having them close to my body so that I can feel that connection to the earth.

To do just that, I personally create unique pieces of Jewellery at home in my workshop with beautiful ethically sourced Gemstones mined from the UK and around the world. Wherever possible I always use UK suppliers with a fair practice ethos of sourcing and supporting mining communities in the continents from which many precious minerals originate. I also take care to purchase recycled or recyclable packaging that is both functional and beautiful in its simplicity.

Both the semi precious and precious Gemstones I am using now have been intentionally stored for over a decade in an attempt to offer something different, perhaps more exclusive, and potentially more unusual to my customers. I also have a stunning selection of cultured pearls in different shades and sizes, African wood beads, coral, and shell to mention a few. I only use high quality materials to fashion my jewellery which I choose carefully to make sure they are worthy. I use electroplated precious metal and solid precious metal findings, durable cord, strong elastic, and other tarnish resistant sundries. Over the coming weeks, months and beyond, there will be an eclectic and charming selection of jewellery at Catpurr, something for everyone to love wearing.

Like many through the ages, I cherish and revere the earth's natural treasures and it gives me much pleasure to be able to share that special magic in the jewellery I make (accompanied by my beloved furry friends) and take pleasure to bring to all of you here on Folksy.
