I have always had a passion for crafting. I started out doing cross-stitch until I had filled my own home and those of my family members with so many items there was no room for any more. Then I started card-making which I still do from time to time for personal use. My love of patchwork came about, however, when I was gifted a patchwork tote by my sister-in-law. She loved the bag herself and was almost reluctant to give it away so I decided to make her one and that's when the passion began. My Mum was a traditional patchwork quilter (all done by hand) and doesn't believe in machine sewn quilts. I, on the other hand, like the immediacy of machine sewing, although you will see from my photo that I am hand quilting this one as it was too big for my machine to handle.
I love art, especially the Impressionists, and I am inspired by their work, either through colour choices or design ideas. I am also inspired by nature and the beautiful countryside that surrounds me here in Scotland. I love the hues of the heather on the hills or the brilliant colours of gorse and bluebells. I just love colour. I also love fabric and a design idea can be inspired by some beautiful fabric I see. I try to consider the environment as much as possible and buy my fabric from other crafters who might want to de-stash or swap fabric, or I repurpose items such as duvet covers or curtains.

Bought as a gift. Very pretty. My daughter in law will love it.
