When I first saw the green and brown batik fabric, it reminded me of a turtle shell so that's what I decided to make with it. The hexie shape is also perfect to depict a turtle back. One side has a larger version on it - the mummy - and the other side has a smaller version - the baby.

Full description
I designed this turtle shopping tote by creating hexagons from green and bronze batik cotton and machine stitching them to a heavy cotton base. I then hand embroidered the outline of the turtles to soften the edges. Mama turtle is on one side and baby turtle on the other.
The lining is a vibrant abstract cotton with a slip pocket.
