Making Handmade Jewellery in a Small Workshop in the West Midlands.
My name is James, I run Spoon37 on Folksy which I use to show and sell my hand made jewellery items!
Most of it is made from bare metal wires, e.g. copper, brass, stainless steel and such, plus a mixture of glass, crystal and semi-precious gemstones. Don't worry it is made clear in each listing as to which materials are used - as an example in the picture above the earrings are listed as copper with green glass cubes.
I started a few years ago when I read a book about making jewellery, from wire specifically - I already had metalworking skills and it seemed 'easy enough' to try with the step by step instructions of a handy book: what was much harder was coming up with my own designs and styles.
I like to think that what I create is classy and timeless, so I don't necessarily try to follow the latest fashions as I intend my jewellery to last much longer than a fad for Jade green for example.
Everything is hand made in a small home based workshop in the West Midlands, UK - I am happy to ship it worldwide though, many of my previous customers are American and usually report both high quality goods and fast shipping (considering the distances involved).
I make everything by hand using hand tools, I should add that this sets me apart from those that make that claim by "hand assembling" machine made parts into jewellery. This gives me tremendous scope for making unique and exciting pieces that don't rely at all on heavy manufacturing or economy of scale - allowing my handmade jewllery to stand out from the crowd.
