When I need a change from sewing, I’ll pick up some knitting needles. My mum always had a pair in her hands and taught me the basics when I was still at primary school. In those days I knitted dolls’ clothes, but now I can’t resist producing a soft woolly bag or two!

A cute little stripey blue knitted woolly handbag with leather handles.
The woolly outer measures a neat 8h x 9-12w inches and holds just enough to be really practical.
I loved adding the blue leather handles to a woolly bag - it’s just so unexpected and adds a ‘je ne sais quoi’ to the finished item! They measure about 16 inches (from fob to fob) and let you wear it snuggly on the shoulder tucked under your arm for security or sits perfectly on your arm. The fobs are sewn with an extra layer of fabric behind to add strength.
There is a central magnetic fastener and a pretty blue floral cotton print lining, which ensures the bag keeps its shape once you’ve filled it! Two open pockets allow you to find your phone and keys in a hurry and a zipped pocket with a beaded zip pull keeps things safe.
The yarn is a mix of 30% wool and acrylic in blues and large vintage button just completes the look! With a thin layer of wadding inside and a soft yarn it’s just so cuddly to carry-can you resist?
