Full description
A cream tote bag with an appliqué, free-motion and hand embroidered scene depicting a fairy house and garden. The house is made from plain ivory fabric with a roof of patterned lilac and beige fabric. I’ve used the pattern of the fabric to give the impression of overlapping petals. The arched door and arched windows all have free-motion embroidered detailing. The Wisteria to the front of the house has jute twine as the stems, and hand embroidered flowers and leaves. The lawn is zesty green fabric and has a path of beige fabric with a pattern that resembles crazy paving. I’ve used free-motion embroidery, and hand embroidered French knots in pink variegated thread, to create flower borders. The garden also contains two clumps of mushrooms, using the same lilac fabric as the roof, but with the addition of lots of white hand embroidered French knots. The bag is lined with lilac satin fabric, with a woven pattern of tiny diamond shapes.
This delightful tote bag is a practical way to appreciate a piece of textile art. With its unique appliqué design, it would make a lovely gift for anyone who loves fairy houses.
