Hi, I'm The Old Button - welcome to my shop and I hope you find lovely things that you would like to buy.
I post every day, using Royal Mail First Class for cards, and Track 24 for all other items, and I can post directly to the recipient - see my Upgrades listings. Dispatch times are currently 1-3 days for most of my makes, with a few taking longer as indicated in the item details.
In the busy run up to Christmas, I'm no longer taking commissions for my embroidered play scenes and my patchwork quilts, but I have gift voucher options. The last day for ordering my custom hand embroidered Christmas stockings and Child's Drawing Pictures is Monday 9th December. For all other items I will be open right up until Christmas week.
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.
Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.
A pair of Christmas tree decorations in traditional red and green, made from a patchwork panel of fabric scraps hand sewn to wool felt with blanket stitch. Patchwork has long tradition of reusing and up-cycling, and here I have used tiny fabric pieces that would otherwise have gone to waste.
Ideal for decorating the tree or tied to garlands, these handmade ornaments would also be great gift toppers.
To make the patchwork, I sewed small strips of fabric to a foundation piece using the stitch and flip technique, creating a panel of "new" fabric from which I cut triangles. A bit of maths before I started cutting maximised the number of full triangles, and I have kept the edge pieces to add to Christmas themed slow stitching kits - so this really was a zero waste project.
Continuing this approach, the wool felt backing and pom-pom trims are also offcuts from my larger makes.
The trees are lightly stuffed to add depth and perspective, and has a narrow hanging ribbon securely sewn between the felt layers.
Supplied as a pair of trees. Each pair is different - depending on the placement of the fabric strips.
Approximately 3 inches tall, plus hanging loop.
Designed by Sharon Lloyd in my attic sewing room in South Wales
