Full description

These drop earrings have a classic shape but are given a modern twist by being made with vintage boatite, the boatite is complimented with carnelian stones which cover the post and scroll fittings. Boatite is a build up of cured paint from boat yards, in this case the Larson boat yard and this material is believed to be from the 1960's hence the retro colour palette of creams, tans, green and mustard in a pattern of wavey stripes. The boatite drops and carnelian rounds have been bezel set in sterling silver, they measure 36mm drop by 16mm across, boatite is lightweight so they are not heavy in the ears and could comfortably be worn all day. Comes gift boxed.

Boatite is the name given to the cured build up of paint that forms in boat yards (I like to think of it as fordite's maritime cousin). Normally this build up would be thrown away but occasionally lumps of it would be kept as a curio and people are now realising the beauty of this waste material and turning it into jewellery. I cut and polish this material myself so if you would prefer something else then drop me a message.
