Amethyst (purple quartz) is the birthstone for Aquarius and February, and the stone for the 6th and 17th wedding anniversaries.
Amethyst is also associated with St Valentine.
It was believed he wore an amethyst ring engraved with a cupid to enable young soldiers to recognise him.
Emperor Claudius 11, believing married men made bad soldiers, had forbidden soldiers to wed, but Valentine would conduct secret marriage ceremonies.
The Emperor had him beheaded circa A.D. 270.

Full description
Pretty purple Amethyst earrings featuring a 7x11mm deep purple Amethyst nugget with a 6mm Sage Amethyst bead below, and above a 4mm Swarovski 'violet' crystal bicone and a 4mm Sage Amethyst round.
The beads are separated by tiny, 2.5mm gold vermeil spacer beads.
Sage Amethyst is a type of Amethyst, sometimes called "banded", "chevron" or "dog tooth" Amethyst, that is purple quartz (Amethyst) mixed with swirls of white quartz (Rock Crystal) giving beautiful, cloudy patterns that have also led to the name "dream amethyst".
The beads are hung from gold vermeil ear-wires.
Gold vermeil is sterling silver that has been plated with 18k gold, and the wires are stamped '925'.
These earrings measure approximately 1.5 inches (3.75cm), excluding the wires.
Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a pretty organza gift bag.
