The Lucienne Collection is named after the textile designer Lucienne Day whose work in the 1950s influenced a wide area of design. Her textile ‘Calyx’ was created for the Festival of Britain in 1951 and is still much admired today. She explored many design sources, but my Lucienne Day favourites, such as Calyx, are from the natural world. My own designs feature a nod to cow parsley, marsh grass, vine tendrils and country landscapes.

Full description
This handmade softly rectangular mini vase is just perfect on its own, or for showing off a single bloom, a few herbs in the kitchen, or for holding a couple of pens or pencils. I decorated the outside with bands of lemon, cream, grey and buff, and carved motifs of grasses and twisted tendrils into the surface colour before firing – a technique known as sgraffito. Choose others from the Lucienne Collection to make an eye-catching group. 14cms high and 13 cms around the base, with my potter’s mark of a swallow in flight impressed underneath.
