I like to push the boundaries of traditional ceramic forms, so I exaggerated the spout on this jug to give a fun look, then gave it a larger-than-life handle, and used abstract art as my starting point for the decoration.
For display purposes only, not for food/drink use. Please use a mat to protect painted or polished surfaces. Handwash in warm water and air dry. Not dishwasher safe.

Black and white is such a great colour combo to set off flowers in this pretty jug-shaped vase for your living room, coffee table, lounge or bedroom. It’s a handy size for spring or summer small to medium flowers, or is just as eye-catching for autumn leaves or Christmas arrangements.
I use black stoneware clay and hand form the shape, then decorate with two white slip panels on the surface. When the colour has settled into the clay I use a sgraffito tool to incise two interwoven lines into the white surface, revealing the black clay beneath to form an original one-off motif on each side of the vase. The first firing prepares the piece for the glaze – after firing I glaze the inside only so that the jug can hold water and I use an iron lustre to give subtle shades of rusty brown, dark blue and black. I leave the outside of the vase in the natural black and white matte finish of the natural clay. The second firing creates a shiny interior surface. 16cm high x 5.5cm across the widest part of the base.
Because the exterior is unglazed the jug is not suitable for food/drink use and is for display purposes only.
