My shop will be closed from 15th December until 26th December 2024. Wishing you all a peaceful and relaxing Christmas.
Due to updated UK government and EU regulations I am not able lo accept orders from Northern Ireland or to ship there. Apologies to those in that part of the UK.
The collection is the result of a long period of experimentation with black stoneware clay. My aim is to create pieces that reflect the inherent qualities of the clay itself, and to form and decorate using the minimum of tools, so that the finished piece can reflect the material and the maker. The motifs are influenced by textile designs and artwork from the early to mid 20th century. While there are recurring shapes, motifs and colours in my work, each piece is entirely unique in its form and decoration. The work is fired to 1185 degrees Celsius in an electric kiln over a period of 12 hours. Pieces bear my maker’s mark of a swallow impressed into the base.

Emily is a handmade vase in matt black stoneware clay with bands of pastel coloured clay slip decoration. I use what is known as the sgraffito technique to make further carved marks through the colour. I glaze the interior so that Emily can be used as a vase to show off your favourite flowers, but the piece can stand alone as abstract ceramic art. Emily looks very stylish as part of a lemon and grey room colour scheme - very now! On the base is my potter's mark of a swallow in flight. The piece is 20cms high and 23cms circumference around the base.
