About Lazy Lass of the Lakes

Lazy Lass of the Lakes

Loving the lakes - one step at a time.

I am a local lakes lass who uses my passion of the Lake District as inspiration to make vibrant, quirky and fun artwork to share with other lakes lovers.

I try to get out in the lakes every moment I can (usually weekends) with my dog Douglas as it genuinely fills my heart with a joy and contentment I don't find anywhere else. I love the landscape, the nature, the pubs, the people. Cumbrian folk are truly the warmest, funniest and down to earth souls on earth.

While I love being there, I don't always have the time, energy, skill or fitness to scale the lofty peaks everytime and this is fine, because there are hundreds and hundreds of low level, low skilled walks that can be done by anyone from any background. This is something I've been keen to point out to people who admire the (too many!) pictures I post of me and Dougie out and about. I'm often told that they'd love to do that too ... but they wouldn't know where to start, or they're not fit enough. This is how the Lazy Lass of the Lakes was born - to inspire and encourage everyone to get out with their walking boots and get their share of the unbelievable physical, mental and spiritual benefits of being in the outstanding natural beauty of the Lake District.

I have produce all my work using my own walking photographs as a base, and building upon these images with sketches, paint and digital art techniques.

I have lovingly curated a collection of paintings based on the most famous places in the lakes and am now working on a series of hand drawn sketches of my personal favourates (usually pubs). I love the traditional and often quirky buildings of note in Cumbria and know that after a wild and wonderful weekend, what a lovely treat it is to remember the places you've visited.

Please feel free to contact me if you have anything special in mind, and I'll work hard to accommodate all requests.

Fall in love with the Lakes - one step at a time.

Much love
JD
