I try to reuse boxes and packing where ever possible. If an item is for a special present please let me know so that I can use a special new box.

Original jewellery designs

I Love making jewellery. Each piece I make is unique and I try to use the best materials that are available. I am retired and live in the Midlands.

I started making jewellery when my elderly Mum could no longer cope with the clasps on her necklaces and bracelets. I bought user-friendly clasps and altered them for her, and soon realised what lovely and clever clasps there were out there.

At this time, I was still working in the IT industry as a systems designer and lecturer and didn’t have much time for hobbies, but when I retired I decided to try my hand at making jewellery and started buying a few beads and items of glass and playing around with different design ideas.

There are so many fabulous pearls, crystals and beads available and working with them to make something beautiful from scratch is so rewarding. Sometimes I often take a couple of days working with my design board, moving beads and metal findings around until I’m happy with the design. I also cut and fuse glass, use silver metal clay and other materials. I enjoy trying new mediums and continue to work on my traditional silversmithing techniques.

Clasps are still a big interest and nearly all my bracelets and necklaces have easy but secure fastenings. These days I consider myself something of a ‘clasp connoisseur’, thanks to my Mum!

I am always happy to add an easy clasp to a necklace as well as the tricky lobster clasps that are so popular to give a varied length. I am also happy to change ear wires to a non allergic wire (such as niobium or stainless steel) or to a screw fitting.
