Hi folks, I'm looking forward to getting the shop fully back up and running once we are a bit more settled at home and now my fractured thumb is (hopefully) fully healed! There's still a pause on making at the moment so I'm afraid I can't offer the usual made to order or personalised items, but hope to be adding to the inventory very soon.

Hello and welcome to Caledonian Keepsakes! Here I endeavour to provide you with truly meaningful keepsakes for all of your special occasions from milestone birthdays and anniversaries to the commemoration of life events such as graduation, birth of a child, recovery or bereavement. You can add significance to your item by choosing a meaningful gemstone as well as adding your special initial, number or symbol.
All of my gemstones are natural Scottish stones, supplied by trusted collectors with a record of the region from which they came. It is really important to me to be able to provide locally sourced and traceable stones, but these are not readily available and so it is something of a labour of love! I prefer not to use minerals that are mined from the earth, causing much destruction to the environment in pursuit of the most perfect examples, instead, I strive to use materials that are easily collected from the surface. This means that the stones I use often have characteristics, markings, inclusions or imperfections that make them especially unique.
Everything is made from scratch, so the dimensions of made to order items do vary slightly and all measurements should be taken as approximate. Personalised lettering and symbols are applied using a hammer and punches, so where there are more than one stamp, there can be inconsistency in position and depth, adding an imperfect quality and another layer of uniqueness to the piece.
Each item comes with handmade packaging including a booklet about the gemstone's meanings and associations, and you can add a personalised message to the box insert, all made using water-based ink and recycled paper.
