Jewellery, cards, pictures and cushions, all inspired by textile processes.

I have always, for as long as I remember, sewn, made, drawn, painted, experimented with fabric, leaves, stones, clayey soil, beads when I could get them...in fact anything I could make something out of. My Mum, my Grandma, my Dad were all very creative people and some of my earliest memories are of watching my Grandma at her Singer sewing machine and my Mum knitting away on a new jumper for my brother or me. I taught in Primary schools for many years and Art was always high on the curriculum I taught and, when I retired, I jumped into Art nearly full time. I did an Experimental Textiles course in Hove for 3 years and from there became part of a textile-art group called Rethreaded. We regularly exhibit our textile art around Brighton and Hove and East and West Sussex. Alongside this work, I make jewellery from semi precious stones and beads, often in knitted or wrapped wire, cards using interesting papers and cushions with silk painted panels. I am very lucky to, as George Elliott said, "Be what I might have been". My Dad dissuaded me from persuing a career in Art because there was no money in it...he said...this at the beginning of the 60s!! Welcome to my new Folksy shop.
