The birthstones for October and Libra are Opal and Tourmaline.
Here I have used a nugget of natural Pink Opal with beads of faceted Pink Tourmaline.
Pink Opal is a variety of common Opal, composed of Opal, Palygorskite and Chalcedony.
The Opal gives a soft lustre, Palygorskite gives the pink colour and Chalcedony adds patterns of white, grey and black.
Tourmaline comes in a range of colours, but I have chosen beads of pale rose pink, and a deep raspberry pink that are faceted to give a subtle glint in the light.

Full description
Dainty, sparkly earrings in shades of pale pink, raspberry and gold.
Each drop earring features a Pink Opal nugget, topped with a 4mm quality Austrian crystal bicone in the colour 'white opal', a 3mm faceted pink Tourmaline bead and a trio of 2.5mm faceted deep raspberry Tourmaline beads, all highlighted with tiny gold vermeil spacers.
The beads are threaded onto gold vermeil pins and hung from gold vermeil ear-wires.
Gold vermeil is sterling silver that has been plated with 18k gold.
The natural Pink Opal nuggets are approximately 5x8mm in size, a rough-cut oval shape in shades of pale salmon pink with some inclusions of black Chalcedony.
The faceted, Pink Tourmaline beads add a pop of rose pink and deep raspberry colour and a subtle glint when they catch the light.
Hand made in my home workshop here in beautiful Devon in the UK, these would make a lovely birthday present, especially for someone born in October as Opal and Tourmaline are October birthstones.
Also makes an excellent gift for an anniversary, bridesmaid, best friend, or as a treat for yourself.
These pretty earrings measure approximately 1.25 inches (3cm), excluding the wires.
Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a small organza gift bag.
