I love working with denim, upcycling old jeans. Denim uses so much energy and water to create so using it for as long as possible by recycling old jeans feels really important.

A child's apron made from patchwork denim.
The apron is 53cm x 63cm (21" x 24.5") making it suitable for maybe a large 5 year old up to about a 11 or 12 year old. Obviously children can vary enormously in their size so you are best to go by the measurements! It will actually fit a small adult quite easily, it's just a little on the short side.
Both the neck and waist straps are seperate, you tie them to whatever length you want making it completely adaptable to many sizes. Always supervise young children when they are near or using any apron, the straps could be a strangling hazard of course.
I have made several of these pretty aprons, each one completely unique, they are made from old jeans and bed linen. The aprons are fully lined with patterned fabric which coordinates with the embellishments on the front and the straps.
This apron is machine washable, but be aware that the denim dye from jeans can run so a cooler temperature is advised. I would always include a colour catcher type sheet just to prevent the denim dye running into the lining fabric.
