I love ferns, they are graceful and intriguing and they love the botanical print process. I love the way they show themselves in silhouette on the fabric giving a lovely buttery yellow against the grey/black of the linen. Linen is a durable fabric that loves natural dyes such as myrobalan, a naturally occurring tannin. And so does cotton flannel and I felt the echo of the lining with the outer creates a magical 'ooh' when the pouch is open. The bag also has a layer of fusible fleece so even clumsy me can drop this and the precious cargo is cushioned.
What is also fabulous is that even if I repeated the process, there would never be an exact replica as the leaves, dyes and fabrics react differently depending on so many factors including the time of year

Full description
This beautiful bag is made from linen with a fleece and flannel lining to keep everything safe and sound. The fabric was treated with a natural dye called myrobalan, ferns gathered from the woods were placed on the fabric before an additional blanket of iron impregnated cloth was placed over the whole and then steamed to allow the magic to happen. The lining is made from cotton flannel that has been treated in exactly the same way, showing clearly how different fabrics react to the dyes and leaves. All fabrics and dyes are natural. The bag measures 28.5cm wide, 16cms tall and 4cm deep, meaning plenty of room for all your necessaries.
