the leaves are always the inspiration for each piece. There are many different leaves in this piece: oak, silver birch, acer and tulip tree to name just a few. I had also collected some horsetail plant - an invasive species, but one that gives graceful interconnections between the individual leaves creating a whole painting on one piece of cloth. The choice of cloth - a gauzy light wool and silk blend also gives inspiration - a flow of leaves like they are floating on the water of a pond or river.

Full description

This scarf has been botanically printed using natural dyes and leaves to create a unique piece of clothing suitable for all occasions. The base fabric is a light, gauzy blend of 50% wool and 50% silk that has been dyed with gorse flower and iron before being scattered with leaves gathered from the woods and parks of North Yorkshire. A dye blanket of logwood has then been applied before the whole piece has been steamed to seal the imprint of the leaf within the fabric and allow the dyes to blend together. A hand sewn hem has then completed the scarf which measures 30cm x 215cm.

Soft, light and warm, this beautiful scarf is truly magnificent and comes with comprehensive care instructions as well as full details of what leaves and where they came from. A whole story in one piece of luxury
