The majority of my pieces rely on the random element of the work. I select colour combinations I believe will work together. I assemble them on a copper base and fire them in a small kiln. Once the interior of the kiln and the piece I am working on are at red heat I draw a steel point through the surface in an attempt to generate the pattern of colours I had in mind. I misjudge the position of the colours, the kiln fails to fire a colour to the consistency I hoped for, the red heat starts to dissipate as soon as the kiln door is opened. I draw out the steel point, shut the kiln door. to allow the materials to get back to melting point, draw the piece out of the kiln and marvel at what I have been allowed to produce as the piece cools and the colours resolve into the patterns I am allowed to claim.

Full description
This oval brooch measures 30mm by 45mm.
After building a base of several coats of clear enamel I added the sky blue. After firing that I added patches of transparent turquoise, pink, and yellow over a white base and drew through the colours with a steel point to make the random pattern that you see.
Your brooch will be sent boxed, as shown, by Royal Mail first class, tracked at no added cost.
