For the most part the decoration I apply to the pieces I work is random. The patterns I make by drawing a steel point through the patches of enamel I have scattered on the copper shape. Everything in the kiln is red hot, the space within the kiln is limited, as soon as the kin door is opened the temperature will drop and the enamel begin to set. I draw the steel tip through the red hot material as quickly as I can and then withdraw it from the kiln before it is clamped to the work piece, embedded in the enamel. I have an idea of the effect I want. I get away with what the kiln permits. There is always a better piece waiting to be found.

Full description
This oval brooch measures 30mm by 45mm.
After building a base of several coats of clear enamel I added the midnight blue. After firing that I added patches of transparent pink, amethyst and sky blue over a white base and drew through the colours with a steel point to make the random pattern that you see.
Your brooch will be sent boxed, as shown, by Royal Mail first class, tracked at no added cost.
