Firstly I hand-spun the bamboo from a variety of deep grey-blues, rusty reds and bright light greens. This yarn then acted as the basis for the scarf, completing the colourway by picking out toned versions of the red and green to highlight in the warp.

Can’t tolerate wool near your skin? Then this light and delicate scarf is an ideal choice. I’ve hand-woven it from bamboo and a plant-based fibre called Tencel, a reasonably recent addition to a weaver’s portfolio of yarns, originating from sustainably-grown, replaceable trees. The hand-spun bamboo weft mixes a deep grey-blue with the wisps of light green and red-brown that are picked up in the colours of the Tencel warp. At 160cm long (excluding tassels) and 19cm wide, this soft scarf is ideal for stylishly accessorising any occasion. Hand-wash carefully at low temperature and lie flat to air dry; the scarf can be ironed at low heat.
