The inspiration for these Mother Earth Table Top Sculptures, comes from a common thread that runs throughout my work, exploring the often fragile balance between humankind and the natural enviroment.
This piece depicts plant growth and repetative patterns in nature, giving a suggestion of the landscape draped about the human form, the inside having a cave like, sanctuary feel, further enhanced by the natural colours of the oxides and turqouise glass fragments fused into the base.
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.

Full description
This Table Top Sculpture has been hand built from stoneware buff clay, using the ancient technique of hand rolled coils of clay to create the initial form.
The exterior surface of this Mother Earth Sculpture has been heavily textured with thin, fern impressed, clay sheets, coiled spirals and impressed fossils as a contrast to the more lighter textured interior.
After drying out slowly over a few weeks, the piece recieves a first firing before being painted with layers of oxides and glazes.
Fragments of coloured glas are then placed into the base of the piece creating a pool like crystalline effect after melting at a high frost proof temperature in a scond kiln firing.
This Table Top Sculpture can stand alone, be candle lit from inside or have a small plant placed in the interior.
The sculpture is 32 cm in height and a width of 16 cm at the base with a glossy and satin finish.
Unfortunately I can't offer free postage for this sculpture due to the size and weight.
