At the moment I am not able to take orders from Northern Ireland or ship there. Apologies to those in that region.
I love to work with clay – it’s such a responsive material – and the black surface of this particular stoneware gives a striking contrast to pastel coloured decoration. I use the minimum of tools because I like handmade to be literally that! Each of my shapes and designs are slightly different, so each is a ‘one and only’.

I formed the soft rectangular shape by hand in black stoneware clay, then patterned each side of the ceramic with a lively motif of a leafy potted plant to make a cheerful small vase for your home. The fresh contemporary design is based on one of my own houseplants which just keeps on growing! I create the motifs using coloured liquid clay (called slip) choosing shades of green for the leaves and a bright gingery orange plus a yellow zig zag for the plant’s pot. The black stoneware gives an effective contrast to the colours of the decorative design. I leave the outside of the vase unglazed to give a naturally matt surface, but finish the inside with tenmoku glaze so that the vase can hold water. The whole piece is fired to 1185 degrees C in my kiln, so that the design is fired into the clay and the glaze vitrifies into a satin surface inside. The vase will give a fresh modern look to your interiors whether you use it for flowers, grasses, or just as an art piece by itself. 10.5 cm high x 10.5 x 5cm.
