At the moment I am not able to accept orders from Northern Ireland or to ship there. Apologies to those in that part of the UK.

I love looking at vintage textiles and wallpaper, particularly those of the 50s and 60s when a refreshing wind of change blew through the design world. My Metro Collection of vases and vessels (and this vase is just one of them) have echoes of these vintage designs, but are my own originals.

You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.

Full description

A handmade black stoneware ceramic vase that is perfect for pastel coloured flowers or simply as a piece of art to add something special to your living space. I made the vase from black stoneware clay, and created a deep band of decorative pink and white, before adding curves and dots using the sgraffito technique to expose the black clay beneath the decoration. After the first firing I glazed the interior in an iron lustre finish which gives shades of glossy blue and rusty brown – the exterior is the matt black of the natural clay. The whole piece is then fired again to 1185 degrees C to vitrify the glaze. Underneath you’ll find my potter’s mark of a swallow impressed into the clay before firing. The vase looks good with flowers in soft pastel shades, such as hydrangea, roses, Japanese anemones, dianthus, bluebells or grasses and ferns. 18cms high and about 9 cms diameter at the base.
