The book is stitched together with Teal coloured Irish Linen waxed thread. This is the best kind of thread to use for bookbinding, because it doesn’t stretch, meaning that the book stays firmly bound, no matter how often you open and close it.
The Coptic binding means that the book will lie completely flat when opened, making it perfect for journaling or sketching.
The cartridge paper for the pages is recycled, mostly from old paper cups, and it’s all hand torn or cut to size. The paper is 140gsm and because it is recycled, it has a slight texture, which makes it perfect for journaling or sketching. I always write with a fountain pen and the paper is wonderful for that.
So, you see, it really is Earth-friendly all the way!

The Perfect Earth-Friendly Journal, created with flowers, sunshine and recycled paper.
I created this gorgeous journal because I really do believe your words are worth it!
Part of my 8” by 10” collection of journals, a wonderful size for a journal, it’s as wide as A4, but not quite so tall, so there’s plenty of space for your writing, for sketches, even for scrap-booking.
The covers are original cyanotype prints, which is an Eco-friendly art form.
The subjects for my artwork are wildflowers or flowers from my garden, which Nature produces for me in abundance!
And I use the sun to develop the prints … as an energy source, you can’t get more sustainable than that!
The covers feature Black-Eyed Susans and Nigella from my Garden.
I used some Jardin Turquoise ink, as well as some Winsor and Newton Gold ink to add a dash of sparkle! I also used salt in the wet cyanotype developing process, because this gives a wonderful crystalising effect.
To create the cover prints, I used Fabriano Tiziano art paper in a lovely blue called Acqua Marina.
The inside covers are made using handmade airmail blue Nepalese Lokta Paper, which has a lovely soft feel and the natural plant fibres can be easily seen.
For this journal I have used cyanotype print spine wraps, which look beautiful when your book is standing on a shelf.
This is not just a unique journal, it’s a work of art.
