The inside covers are handmade Nepalese Lokta paper, in a textured turquoise.
The book is stitched together with turquoise thread.
I used Coptic stitching to bind the book together, which means that the book will lie completely flat when opened, which makes it perfect for journaling or sketching. It’s also the best kind of binding for the left-handers out there! No spine getting in the way!
What is a journal?
It’s your story, your history, your present moment.
It’s a gateway into who you really are and how you really feel.
It’s a place to play and a place to get down to some serious work.

Hi! I’m Lizzie, the woman behind Redheadwondering Hand Bound Books, and I created this gorgeous journal because I really do believe your words are worth it!
The covers for this hand bound book were made using original cyanotype prints and feature wild Ox-Eye daisies. They make such lovely subjects for cyanotypes, they’re so jolly, and their structure is perfect for this form of alternative photography.
Cyanotype printing is a wonderful form of alternative photography, where you use the sun’s UV rays to develop the print. I always use flowers as the subjects for my prints, and sometimes I add some extra ingredients … for this journal, I used salt in the wet cyanotype developing process, because this gives a wonderful crystalising effect.
Cyanotype printing is an Eco-friendly art form.
The subjects for my artwork are wildflowers or flowers from my garden, which Nature produces for me in abundance!
And I use the sun to develop the prints … as an energy source, you can’t get more sustainable than that!
All of the cartridge paper for the pages is recycled, mostly from old paper cups, and it’s all hand torn or cut to size. The paper is 140gsm and because it is recycled, it has a slight texture, which makes it perfect for journaling or sketching. I always write with a fountain pen and the paper is wonderful for that.
This gorgeous, floral journal would be the perfect gift for any woman … Or you could always treat yourself … don’t you deserve gorgeous stationery?!
