Nature and the changing seasons afe a thread that runs throughout all of my work, similarly, when creating this batch of Autumnal Leaf Necklace Pendants, the clay capturing the delicate patterns of the leaves making each one unique.
From the very earliest ties between humankind and Oak Trees, it is said, they can be symbolic of strength, honesty and much more.

Full description
These Oak Leaf Pendants, start life from real Oak leaves being carefully rolled and pressed onto the wet surface of a terracotta clay slab.
Cutting around the individual leaves, I then let the pendant dry completely before loading into the kiln.
After a first firing, oxides such as Manganese, Copper are painted on to highlight the fine details captured on the clay surface, before being dipped into a clear Earthenware glaze, that deepens the colours and gives a smooth, glossy,tactile finish to the front and reverse of the necklace.
The leaf pendants is then strung with a waxed cotton, black chord, hand knotted with special slip knots allowing the wearer to ajust the length to suit as shown in the images.
Coming in an attractive presentation box made from recycled fibres from the Tiny Box Company, this unique piece of jewelry measures approx 7 cm at the longest point, approx 4 cm at the widest point, thickness of 4 mm.
