Inspiration for these Bramble leaf cactus planters, comes from a love of all aspects of nature, plant life, seasonal chages, landscapes and everything within.
These are common themes that are woven throughout all of my art work, whether it's sculptural, or wall art, large or small.
Bramble leaves cover the outside surface, the fine details are highlighted by layers of oxides and slip, comined with layers of clear and coloured glazes.
Ready to hang, these planters are fired to a high frost proof temperature, originally made for a small cactus or succulent, but cana also be used for outdoors for an ivy or small outdoor seasonal plant.
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.
Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.
Using the Potter's Wheel, the initial body of the planters have been thrown, then trimmed when leather hard to give a rounder base.
Leaves from the Bramble plants in my garden have then been rolled into thin sheets of clay, carefully cut around and individually attached and arranged around the whole surface of the pot.
Liquid white clay is then poured over the form, as shown in the images, to start creating texture and contrasting banding, before being placed in the kiln for a first firing when dry.
After removal from the kiln, the planter is then stained with various metallic oxides and stoneware glazes, enhancing the fine lines and details of the leaves.
The individual pots are glazed allover so are balanced on special props to prevent sticking to the kiln shelves, hence the three small dots on the base when removed.
This hanging planter is approx 7.5 cm high, width of 9 cm at it's widest point, narowing to 7.5 cm at the opening.
Comes ready to hang with natural string attached, sold complete with flowering cactus plant.
Designed by Susan Wade - French in Falkirk, Scotland.
