Full description
This striking spalted beech wood fountain pen is hand made in my studio overlooking the sea. Beech is a common British hardwood that, unlike the wood used for this pen, usually has a very uninteresting grain pattern. Used for a wide variety of purposes, mostly to manufacture plywood, the wood I've used for this pen is "spalted". Spalting occurs when a fungus infecting the growing wood dies within the living tree and when cut, leaves the black lines you can see in this pen making a normally rather dull wood very interesting.
This fountain pen has a chrome nib with an iridium point and a piston-type ink converter to store the ink. Both finials, pocket clip and centre band are chrome, and the finials also feature black accents. The cap has a triple-lead thread, which makes removing and replacing very quick, and the chrome tip section unscrews to access the ink tank to refill it.
For those who like to know, this pen weighs 42g, is 135mm long with the cap on, and 128mm long with it removed for writing.
The price includes post and packing.
