Full description

This moody pendant features Cornish surfite bezel set in sterling silver and finished with a simple loop bail. The surfite is a deep purple, so dark it's almost black but not quite, but the darkness is lifted by a pastel 'rose' at the bottom. This marquise shaped pendant measures approx 56mm (inc bail) by 22mm, it comes with a sterling silver snake chain but the bail is large enough to fit a cord or thong if you wanted to swap it over.

Surfite is cured epoxy resin waste that builds up during surfboard manufacture, during the glassing stage the excess resin is drained off the board and into a bucket, there are wavey lines on the surface where different pours of resin have flowed over each other. The 'rose' is a cross section of a stalagmite that was forming as the last drops of resin dripped off the board into the bucket only to be swallowed by a later pour of resin. Once the bucket is full and cured the resultant block is normally thrown away but I managed to get Toy Factory Surfboards in Newquay to sell me one and took a saw to it! You can see the block and a work in progress shot in the photos, the rough isn't included but if you want something else making drop me a message. This pendant would make a great gift for a surfer or someone with ties to the Cornish coast.
