Simple Earth Jewellery
Using black clay to make jewellery is a natural extension of my ceramic making. It’s a change of focus, a different pace, to concentrate on small scale creations. My Simple Earth Jewellery Collection has the same ethos as my ceramics – to allow the clay to speak for itself, using just my hands and as few tools as possible, and decorating with coloured slips and simple motifs. The pieces are dried and fired in the same slow way as my ceramics – I hope you enjoy wearing them as much as I enjoy making them!

Full description
These smallish dainty earrings are made by hand from black stoneware clay and fired twice in the same way as my vases and other ceramic pieces. The design is an abstract colour combination of two different pink shades and sage green. I paint the original design using liquid coloured clay called slip, which is fired into the background clay. Before firing, I incised a lined motif through the slip to add to the effect. The earrings have a sterling silver disc and post fitting for pierced ears. I send out boxed, (see image) and the postage quoted is an estimate for Royal Mail small parcel rate – if the actual postage cost is less, I refund the difference to you via PayPal. Rectangular size 1.5cms x 1 cm approx.
