Mono is a collection of simple forms decorated with white on matt black clay. I loved the challenge of limiting myself to one colour only, and echoed the simplicity with linear motifs incised into the white vertical bands. The designs are influenced by the 1930s designs of Edinburgh Weavers, a leading modernist textile company of the time.

This little bottle is handmade from black stoneware clay, with panels and stripes of white decoration and is an eye-catching addition to your home interior design. I’ve added seed head details on the white panel, inspired by mid century modern textile designs. Tillie is 10cms tall, with a narrow neck and curved top piece – a little like a jaunty hat! The exterior of the piece is in the natural matt black of the clay and decorative white slip. I etch the design through the white slip to expose the black clay beneath – a technique known as sgraffito. A little piece of ceramic art to treasure or give as a special gift.
