I love collecting, especially things that have been discarded. Anything that looks lost, forgotten or damaged and not wanted any more. Favourite places of mine to discover bits is rivers or beaches. I am lucky to live near the River Tees, Co Durham and often walk the banks picking up broken glass, pottery anything that can be cleaned and re-created into something new. Another amazing place is recycling centres where for very little I can rescue an old pot or plate. Charity shops have so many interesting pieces, bits and bobs of lives all waiting to find new homes.
Rescued from a box of broken crockery, three plates have been cleaned and formed into shards. Every piece has been used to either create pin brooches or framed pictures. The thickness of the pottery has dictated what it can be used for which is an exciting experience. Bought in October 2019, the ceramics are all together in shard families, neatly housed together by shape, pattern and date.
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.

Additional terms
Hand crafted Jewellery and framed artworks using pre loved and discarded ceramics. Ceramic material will show signs of wear. Entire process is a creative experience from discovery to final picture, nothing planned or preconceived. All materials personally collected from river banks, charity shops, roadside, woods, recycle centres, beaches, wherever dropped, dumped or donated ceramics are found, cleaned and shaped into new stories. Each titled piece comes with bio of where the ceramic came from, known history, original information and when the artwork was created. Some ceramics collected are used as found, while others are cut randomly which will shape the final picture. Every piece is individual, nothing replicated, however, due to repetitive patterns in ceramics there will be some similarity but only through the ceramic material not in the final piece.
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.
Full description
Unique Pin Brooch.
Created from ceramic plate discovered October 2019
Re-Created into pin brooch June 2020
This pin is called ‘Home’ which shows the top of a lovely small cottage tucked into idyllic countryside. Worn in a diagonal style with smoking rising from the tiny chimney.
Measures diagonally 21mm x 21mm x 4mm. Unique and unusual.
In October 2019 I bought a box of broken ceramics from a recycling centre in Barnard Castle, Co Durham. It was filled with smashed plates, underneath all the rubble was a large brown thick plate and two similar style green patterned wall plates.
This type of ceramic material is a bit too thick for earrings so I tend to use it to create pictures and mosaics. However, when I started the process of clipping and cutting the plates with a tile cutter I noticed the shards from the edge of the plate forming into beautiful elongated shapes and the inner flat plate bottom created amazing individual chunks.
These shards inspired me to create pin brooches. The thickness a good strong quality to the ceramic which is perfect for pins. I’ve created a whole series of pins from the green plates which will be listed individually. All ceramic material used will show signs of wear.
Each pin created from a shard family has a title and number which relates to its origin and order of process. Although pins are made from the same ceramic material no two pins are the same.
