PLEASE NOTE

I AM UPDATING PRODUCT BOXES FOR JEWELLERY AND DECORATIONS WHICH WILL TAKE AWHILE, IF YOU PURCHASE YOU WILL RECEIVE YOUR ORDER IN THE NEW BOXES AS DESCRIBED BELOW.

Jewellery boxes are made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Jewellery box inserts are made from tall oil, a by-product of wood pulp industry. All paper, card, glue, inks and delivery boxes used are made from recycled materials.

The idea is to create something new from old, found by chance unique, full of history and character. To present and deliver Eco Friendly gifts in Sustainable Packaging.

I love collecting ceramic discarded, lost, forgotten, damaged or just not wanted any more. Favourite places are rivers and beaches, but also find great things at recycling centres and charity shops. I’m lucky to live near the River Tees, Co Durham and often walk the banks picking up broken glass, pottery anything that can be cleaned and re-worked and crafted into something new. Bits and bobs found by chance waiting to find new homes.

You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.

Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.

Additional terms

All ceramic personally collected from river banks, charity shops, recycle centres, beaches, wherever dropped, dumped or donated ceramics are found, cleaned and shaped into new stories. Each item comes with a short bio. Every piece is individual, nothing replicated, however, due to repetitive patterns in ceramics there will be some similarity but only through the ceramic material not in the final piece. Ceramic will show marks, scratches and imperfections, all part of its history and journey.

Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.

Read the Folksy Returns Policy.

Ceramic Discovered

The River Tees

Barnard Castle, Co Durham

August 2024

Handcrafted into Jewellery Set

October 2024

While walking beside The River Tees in Barnard Castle I found a lovely piece of plate edge. I’ve never come across this design before but discovered the pattern is called Milan, Bates Brown Westhead More & Co Established 1862.

After a thorough clean I managed to drill holes and start work. I never plan, just leave it to chance to see what comes from the shard. This set is made from the rim, the earring still have a very slight curve and the pendant shows a slight mistake in the way the pattern edge has been laid on the ceramic. Neat size earrings and matching pendant, unique, only one set made. Front glaze in tact, backs and sides have been sanded, smoothed and sealed with eco friendly matte sealant.

The idea is to create something new from old, the finished piece isn't meant to be perfect. Instead, retain marks, stains and scratches, part of the original shard and it’s journey. Earrings are similar in shape but not exact.

Each earring measures 11mm x 8mm (widest) x 2mm.

Approximate full drop 23mm.

Pendant measures 14mm x 10mm x 3mm.

Hanging on 46cm 925 sterling silver snake chain.

Delivered in gift box made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue.

Presented on Jewellery box insert made from tall oil, a by-product of paper production.

Sustainable gifts, complete with short bio.

Designed by Stephanie in Barnard Castle
