These miniature vases are designed as if a free standing, three dimensional painting.
Inspired by the local landscape. I wanted to evoke the feeling or the memory of a walk along the Scottish coastline.
Each one thrown with the same weight of clay but each one unique.
Just the right size to fit on a mantle piece or shelf and show off a few flowers , leaves or seed heads that have broken off in the garden or been found when out walking, depending on the season, but equally attractive when empty.
Each one ids stamped with my makers mark.

Full description
Thrown on the potters wheel, this posy vase has been left to dry after having it's base trimmed, before being fired.
Coming out of the kiln for the first time, a base of stoneware glaze is poured over the vase, then bands of alternating oxides and glazes are built up to achieve a landscape effect using liquid wax to act as a resist to enhance the effect.
The wax will quickly burn away in the kiln when fired for a second time to a high temperature.
This vase measures approx 11 cm in height, 7/8 cm wide and narrows to a 5 cm opening at the top.
