Full description
Small matt chocolate brown espresso cup with an open handle and accompanying saucer.
The cup exterior has the matt colour of the unglazed clay. Inside it has a brick red glaze which reacts with the manganese in the clay creating a velvety chocolate colouring.
The cup has a shallow footring on the base.
The saucers are a flat disc shape with a footring on the base. These are available in either a glazed or unglazed finish as seen in the fifth photo. Please leave a note in the 'comments to seller' with your chosen preference - glazed (left) or unglazed (right).
Both have my makers mark impressed on them on the base.
The cup and saucer were thrown by hand on the pottery wheel. The small handle was attached afterwards before the first firing in the kiln. It is small and won't allow you to pass a finger through it but makes it easier to hold. The cup can be placed anywhere on the saucer as there is no indent in which to place it.
The black clay is called Vulcan Black and has a fine texture.
The cups will comfortably hold 75ml of coffee - more than enough for a double espresso.
Size: Cup - 6cm tall, 6cm wide not including handle (8.5cm wide including handle).
Saucer - 10cm diameter.
Due to the items being handmade there will be small differences in the dimensions of items.
