Full description
Tall brown black espresso cup and accompanying saucer.
Both the cup and saucer have a brick red glaze which reacts with the manganese in the clay creating a brown black colouring reminiscent of chocolate.
The cup has a shallow foot ring on the base. The saucer is a flat disc shape with a foot ring on the base and an assymetric ring where the cup can rest which leaves space for a biscuit or two.
Both have my makers mark impressed on them on the base.
The cup and saucer were thrown by hand on the pottery wheel. The small handle was attached afterwards before the first firing in the kiln. It is small but still comfy enough to hold for a small volume of coffee. The cup can be placed anywhere on the saucer as there is no indent in which to place it.
The black clay is called Vulcan Black and has a very fine texture.
The cups will comfortably hold 100ml of coffee - more than enough espresso to get the heart pounding.
Size: Cup - 8cm tall, 5.5cm wide not including handle (8cm wide including handle).
Saucer - 11cm diameter.
